Vol. 174 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - North Kerry Applicants for Exchange Holdings.

23.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the current number of applicants from North Kerry for exchange of holdings; and how many of such applications it is expected will be disposed of this year.

Land Commission records are not kept on a basis of constituency areas. In the entire of County Kerry, however, during the past year, applications for migration were received from 75 tenants. Four applicants were successful. In my replies of 4th July, 1957, and 24th April, 1957, to the Deputy's previous questions, I outlined the various factors governing the allocation of holdings for migrants each year. In the circumstances, the Deputy will appreciate that it is not possible to forecast the number of applicants for migration who can be accommodated this year, but the needs of Co. Kerry applicants will be fully considered.
