Vol. 175 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Minor Employment and Rural Improvement Schemes.

14.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (1) the number of (a) minor employment and (b) rural improvement schemes carried out in County Kerry in each of the past five financial years in respect of each rural and urban district, (2) the total amount of expenditure for each year on each category of these schemes, and (3) the average number of men employed per week during the period of operation of such schemes.

As the reply contains a number of tabular statements I propose with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle to have it circulated with the official report.

Following is the statement:—

NOTE.—No Minor Employment Schemes or Rural Improvement Schemes are carried out in urban areas.

2.—Expenditure figures are available only for the County as a whole and are as follows:—

NOTE.—Due to the normal time-lag in carrying out schemes the expenditure figures shown above do not coincide with the total amounts allocated in the same years, as given in the tables at Section (1).

3.—The average number of men employed per week is also available only for the County as a whole and the figures for each year are as follows:—

NOTE.—Minor Employment Schemes are in operation only in the period November to March inclusive each year and the above averages relate to that period. Rural Improvements Schemes are in operation throughout the year.

I am sure Kerry will get their share anyhow.
