Vol. 176 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Medical and Hospital Costs: Insurance Companies' Liability.

2.

asked the Minister for Health when it is proposed to introduce legislation to prevent insurance companies from repudiating liability for medical and hospital costs arising from road accidents and other accidents due to negligence, thus imposing expenditure on public funds under the Health Act, 1953.

It is hoped to deal with this matter in so far as road accidents are concerned in an amending Road Traffic Bill which it is intended to introduce as soon as possible. I cannot at present state when legislation dealing similarly with other accidents may be introduced.
