Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kildare Housing Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (1) the number of houses at present being erected by (a) Kildare County Council, (b) Naas Urban Council, and (c) Athy Urban Council, (2) the number of persons employed on the housing schemes under each authority, and (3) the number of houses for which tenders have been invited.

The particulars asked for are as follows:—

(1) the number of houses at present being erected by the Kildare County Council is 23. No houses are at present being erected by the Naas Urban Council or the Athy Urban Council.

(2) the number of persons at present employed by the Kildare County Council on housing work is 20. No men are employed on housing work at present by the Naas Urban Council or the Athy Urban Council.

(3) no tenders for housing are at present in course of invitation in any of the local authority areas mentioned.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the number of dwellings erected by the Kildare County Council under the Labourers Acts, and the number of such dwellings purchased by the tenants.

The number of dwellings erected by the Kildare County Council up to 31st March, 1959, was 4,014. The number vested in the tenants at that date was 2,553.
