Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Incidence of Poliomyelitis.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state (1) the total number of children affected by poliomyelitis since January of this year to the most recent rate, and (2) the total number of deaths, if any, from poliomyelitis in the same period.

The total number of cases of poliomyelitis notified as having occurred during the period from 1st January, 1959 to 11th July, 1959 was 10. Of these, seven were children under 18 years of age. No deaths from the disease were recorded during the period.
