asked the Minister for Justice if he will state the number of persons prosecuted for having unlighted cycles on the public highway in the years 1956, 1957 and 1958.

The figures as compiled relate to offences by cyclists under the Lighting Regulations and consequently include prosecutions for failure to have a reflector. The figures are:

1956 : 16,678

1957 : 12,915

1958 : 12,764
