asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the persons or accounts to which ways and means advances were due by the Exchequer on the 30th September, 1959, and the aggregate amount thereof.

On 30th September, 1959, Ways and Means Advances were due by the Exchequer to the American Loan Counterpart Fund, the Post Office Savings Bank Fund, the Social Insurance Fund, the Savings Certificates Reserve Fund, the Church Temporalities Account, the National Development Fund and the Deposit Moneys Investment Account. The total amount due in respect of such Advances was £97,680,973.

Is the Minister in a position to give the details within each account?

The Deputy did not ask that question, but I shall help him. The American Loan Counterpart Fund. £39,880,973; the Post Office Savings Bank Fund, £46,300,000; the Social Insurance Fund, £2,370,000; the Savings Certificate Reserve Fund, £6,250,000; the Church Temporalities Account, £1,000,000; the National Development Fund, £1,380,000; the Deposit Moneys Investment Account, £500,000.
