asked the Taoiseach if he will state (a) the total bedroom accommodation and the number of beds available in hotels and guest houses in the Twenty-Six Counties on the 30th September, 1959, and (b) the total number of visitors from outside the Twenty-Six Counties between the 1st January and 30th September, 1959.

The total available accommodation on 30th September, 1959 in hotels registered with Bord Fáilte Eireann comprised 14,535 bedrooms and 20,531 beds. The corresponding figures for registered guest houses were 2,216 bedrooms and 3,108 beds.

Estimates of the number of visits by persons resident outside the Twenty-Six Counties are compiled only in respect of each calendar year. The latest figures available refer to 1958 and are shown on page 81 of the June, 1959, issue of the Irish Trade Journal and Statistical Bulletin.
