Statistical Returns are not furnished to my Department by Vocational Education Committees until after the conclusion of the school-year to which the statistics refer. The most recent completed returns available are those for the 1957/58 school-year, and these show that 12,837 pupils were in that year enrolled in first-year day continuation courses in technical and vocational schools.
Returns in respect of the 1958/59 school year have not yet been received from all Committees. It is expected that completed information with regard to enrolments in that year will be available about the end of December next.
