Vol. 177 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Housing Scheme: Lay-Out Plan Approval.

30.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that a lay-out plan submitted by Cork Corporation in respect of the proposed Ballymacthomas housing scheme was in his Department for over four months before approval was forthcoming; and if he will state the reason for the delay in the granting of such approval.

I am aware that a period of more than four months elapsed before the plans for housing development at Ballymacthomas were approved. This was due to the desirability of effecting economies and improvements in the plans submitted, which necessitated correspondence with the housing authority and discussions between technical officers of the Department and the Corporation. The time spent on these preliminaries should not affect the date of commencement of work on the scheme, which is scheduled by the city architect for September, 1960.
