Vol. 177 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Protection for Forestry Workers.

48.

asked the Minister for Lands if he has satisfied himself that adequate protection by way of shelters and clothing is now provided for forestry workers.

A review of the shelter position at each forest has just been carried out and arrangements are being made to provide additional shelters wherever they are needed. It is the Department's practice to carry out prompt investigations in any cases where complaints are received that the shelters provided are not adequate to the needs of the men. It is not the Department's practice to provide protective clothing for Forestry workers other than rubber boots which are supplied to men working in drains or on water-logged ground.
