Vol. 177 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Brosna (Kerry) Water Supply.

7.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that there is an acute shortage of water in the village of Brosna, County Kerry; and what steps have been taken to ensure that an adequate supply of water is made available for this village.

I understand that the Kerry County Council found it necessary to shut off the Brosna water supply at night-time during the summer months in order to conserve the yield from the source, because of the exceptionally dry weather, but that the full service has been restored for some time.

The Council has engaged a consulting engineer to design an improved water supply scheme for the village. The outline proposals for this scheme have been approved by the Department, and contract documents are in course of preparation.
