Vol. 177 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cement Exports.

6.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state (a) the amount and value of cement exported in each year from 1956 to the latest date for which figures are available and the country of destination of such exports, and (b) the amount of cement exported through Limerick port.

With regard to (a) of the Deputy's question, I propose, with the permission of the Leas-Cheann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement showing the quantity and value of exports of cement, distinguishing countries of final destination, in each of the years 1956, 1957 and 1958 and in the period 1st January to 30th September, 1959, the latest date for which this information is available.

With regard to (b) of the Deputy's question no official statistics are available on exports through individual ports in the State for the years in question. Basic data on exports through individual ports in the State are at present being recorded for the year 1959 but the results, which will be summarised for the year as a whole, will not be available until some time in 1960.

Following is the statement:—
