asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he proposes to examine the position in relation to the trade returns between this country and the countries on the other side of the "Iron Curtain" in view of the fact that imports and exports for the last four years were respectively £925,185 and £63,164 in 1956, £1,321,548 and £177,642 in 1957, £2,198,288 and £353,700 in 1958, and £1,224,794 and £61,013 for the first eight months of 1959, making an overall total of £5,669,815 in imports against £655,519 in exports.

A general review of external trade, including trade with the countries referred to in the Question, is in progress.
