Vol. 486 No. 1

Written Answers. - Local Authority Housing.

Gerry Reynolds

Question:

679 Mr. G. Reynolds asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he expects to have funding made available for remedial works to be carried out on a housing project (details supplied) in County Leitrim. [2176/98]

Under the remedial works scheme, funding is available to assist authorities to carry out major essential works of a structural nature to designated housing estates. Leitrim County Council has applied for such funding in respect of a number of its housing schemes including this estate. Because of the overall demands for funding by local authorities throughout the country for assistance under the scheme, it is not possible, at this stage, to designate this project for funding.

Bernard Allen

Question:

680 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he will provide the requested capital allocation for remedial work in order to replace defective windows in the local authority houses in the Glen and Mayfield areas. [2177/98]

Cork Corporation's recent request for funding of additional works to these dwellings is under examination and a decision will be notified to the local authority as soon as possible.
