asked the Taoiseach what effect the recent increase in the price of flour and bread will have on the consumer price index.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Price of Flour and Bread.
10.
According to the public Press there was announced as operative in the present month an increase of 7/- per sack in the price of household flour and one of ¼d. per 2-lb. loaf in the price of bread. If such increases are fully effective they will together cause a rise of 0.22 of a point in the Consumer Price Index to base mid-August 1947 = 100.
Will the Parliamentary Secretary direct the attention of the Central Statistics Office to the fact that, since that announcement, the price of the 2-lb. loaf was actually increased by one half-penny and not by one farthing?
