Vol. 178 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Accidents Attributable to Farm Machinery.

36.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if his Department are taking notice of the increasing number of accidents attributable to farm machinery, especially farm tractors; and, if so, if he will state the number of such accidents; and, if not, if he will arrange to have statistics compiled regarding farm accidents.

Owing to increased mechanisation in agriculture, the number of such accidents has tended to increase, but statistics are not available as to the actual number of accidents that have occurred.

The compilation of statistics of accidents would not be a function of my Department, and I doubt whether it would, in fact, be practicable to obtain accurate information on the number of farm accidents.
