Vol. 178 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Forestry Bonus Scheme.

55.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the name and location of each forestry centre in which the forestry bonus scheme was introduced in September and October of this year, and the name and location of each forestry centre in which it is proposed to introduce the bonus scheme before the end of 1959.

The Incentive Bonus Scheme was introduced during the months of September and October, 1959, as follows:

September: Avondale, Co. Wicklow; Kilgarvan, Co. Kerry; Lough Eske, Co. Donegal; Belturbet, Co. Cavan and Graiguenamanagh, Co. Kilkenny.

October: Ballinglen, Clonegal and Glenmalure, Co. Wicklow; Killavullen, Co. Cork; Kilfinane, Co. Limerick; Thomastown, Co. Kilkenny and Dungarvan and Ring, Co. Waterford.

It is not feasible to furnish a nominal list of forests where the Scheme is likely to be introduced before the end of 1959. As the Deputy has been informed on a previous occasion application planning must necessarily be flexible and subject to adjustment as circumstances require. All I can say on the subject is that application of the Scheme during the next few months will be concentrated in the eastern and southern parts of the country in Cos. Wicklow, Wexford, Waterford, Tipperary, Cork and Kerry but it is expected that the Scheme will also be applied at some forests in other parts of the country.
