Comptroller and Auditor General (Amendment) Bill, 1959—First Stage.
Leave granted to introduce a Bill entitled an Act to increase with retrospective effect the salary of the Comptroller and Auditor General.—(An Tánaiste.)
This is a long-deferred Bill. It is merely to bring the salary of the Comptroller and Auditor General into line with other statutory salaries. Is there any possibility, despite the Order of Business, which is accepted, that we might——
Order it for to-morrow morning. It is purely to bring the Comptroller and Auditor General into line with other decisions already taken by this House and not merely by the Government?
That is so.
