The Post Office Act, 1908, and regulations made thereunder give power to stop any packet which, while in course of transmission by post, is observed to contain indecent or obscene matter. A postal packet received from outside the State which is suspected to contain matter of this type may be stopped and forwarded to the Customs Authorities.
