Vol. 178 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Use of Loudspeakers.

70.

Mr. Ryan

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the number of local authorities empowered by law to make bye-laws controlling the use of loudspeakers in public places, and the number and names of such local authorities which have made such bye-laws.

I propose with your permission, A Leas-Cheann Comhairle, to take Question Nos. 69 and 70 together. County councils, county boroughs and borough corporations have power to make bye-laws of the nature referred to. The bye-laws made by county councils may refer to the urban districts within the county. A complete list of the local authorities who have made such bye-laws will be compiled and sent to the Deputy.
