May I draw your attention, Sir, to the fact that the Taoiseach said he would make a statement at 1 o'clock in connection with the Order of Business?

I agree that it would be desirable to complete the Private Members' Motion which is in progress before the Dáil adjourns. The only suggestions I can make are two: one, that we take an hour off the time for the Adjournment Debate, altering the order which the Dáil has already made by bringing forward the time for completion by an hour and giving an hour then for this Private Members' Motion; or, alternatively, sitting after 5 p.m. to-morrow for the purpose of completing the Private Business. That second suggestion, I realise, may not be too popular because I gather that a vote is desired. Therefore, if the Opposition would agree, I would prefer the alternative suggestion of having an hour less for the Adjournment Debate and bringing forward the time for completion to 4 o'clock.
We may get an extra hour in this evening, if the rest of the Public Business folds up, as I expect it will.
Except that the discussion on the Private Members' Motion must be to-morrow.
Get the extra hour on the Adjournment to-night so as to leave an hour for the motion to-morrow.
We shall give an hour for the completion of this Private Members' Motion to-morrow, either by bringing forward the time for the completion of the Adjournment Debate to 4 p.m. instead of 5 p.m. or alternatively, continuing after 5 p.m. until 6 p.m. for that purpose.
Deputies who come up by train, if the House does not adjourn at 5 o'clock, cannot catch their return trains. That is why it is desirable, if Public Business finished at such time that it would not mean sitting too late to-night, we might get an hour in to-night on the Adjournment Debate, and the hour that was got in to-night could be taken off the Adjournment Debate to-morrow and given to the motion.
That is right.
