Total domestic exports of home-made whiskey amounted to 193,675 proof gallons valued (f.o.b.) at £382,657 in 1957, 156,819 proof gallons valued at £335,169 in 1958 and 162,615 proof gallons valued at £341,308 in the period 1st January, 1959 to 30th November, 1959. Figures for the calendar year 1959 are not yet available.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state the value of the exports of Irish whiskey to (a) the United States (b) Great Britain and (c) elsewhere in each of the years since 1952 to date, and the percentage of the exports to the United States in relation to the consumption of whiskey there.
I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to circulate in the Official Report a statement showing the value of domestic exports of home-made whiskey to (a) United States (b) Great Britain and (c) other countries in each of the years 1952 to 1958 and in the period 1st January, 1959, to 30th November, 1959 the latest date for which these figures are at present available. Adequate data on the consumption of whiskey in the United States are not available in the Central Statistics Office to make it possible to express exports of Irish whiskey to the United States as a percentage of the consumption of whiskey there.
