Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sale of Lands in Shannon Estuary Area.

asked the Minister for Lands if his Department have knowledge of the sale of lands in the Shannon estuary area in or about Tarbert and between there and further westwards on both shores of the river; whether such sales and transfers were subject to the agreement of his Department; whether the purchasers are nationals; and for what purpose the lands are to be used.

87.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have investigated the purchase of lands adjoining the Shannon estuary with a view to safeguarding the interests of uneconomic landholders in the area; whether the purchasers are Irish nationals; and whether he has ascertained the purpose of such purchases.

88.

asked the Minister for Lands if recent purchases of land beside the Shannon estuary in north Kerry and south-west Clare have come to the notice of the Government; and, if so, if he will state the names or titles of the purchasers, the purpose for which the lands are being purchased, and if such purchases have had the approval of the Government.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle to take Questions Nos. 86, 87 and 88 together.

I would refer the Deputies to my reply of 22nd October last to a previous Question in this matter. I can only repeat that the private transactions referred to have not come under the official notice of my Department.
