Vol. 179 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Removal of Gough Monument, Phænix Park.

6.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will consider having the Gough monument removed from the centre of the main road through the Phænix Park; or, alternatively, if he will have lights or reflectors placed on it to reduce the danger which it causes to motorists on this badly-lit stretch or roadway.

I am advised that the road junction at which the pedestal is situated is lighted by four gas standards and that no complaint has been received with regard to the adequacy of this lighting. I am, however, having the position examined with a view to seeing if reflectors should be provided on the pedestal.
