Vol. 179 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Duty and Levy on Christmas Gifts.

24.

asked the Minister for Finance if it is the practice to collect customs duty and levy on small Christmas gifts sent to persons residing in this country from relatives working in England; and if so, if he will take steps to relieve such gifts from the duty and levy.

As I indicated in reply to a Question on the 18th instant, I have caused the whole subject of duty concessions for imported gift parcels to be brought under review in consultation with the other Departments concerned.
