Vol. 179 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Congested Areas.

17.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will name the areas defined as congested areas in the State.

Following are the statutorily defined "congested districts counties":

Counties Donegal, Sligo, Leitrim, Roscommon, Mayo, Galway and Kerry; the part of County Clare comprising the six rural districts of Ballyvaghan, Ennistymon, Kilrush, Scariff, Tulla and Killadysert; and the part of County Cork comprising the four rural districts of Bantry, Castletown, Schull and Skibbereen.

In view of the rate of emigration, would the Minister revise that shortly?

The Minister could put the rest of the country into it any time he likes.

It is not as bad as it was many years ago.

(Interruptions.)

It is worse.

It is not so congested because people have emigrated.

(Interruptions.)

Driven out by Deputy Ó Briain and Fianna Fáil.

Deputies should allow the Minister to reply.

Deputy Ó Briain is only saying what Daddy up in the Park told him to say.

(Interruptions.)
