Vol. 179 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Replacement of Kerry Bridge.

55.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that for some years past representations have been made for the erection of a bridge which would be suitable for present-day traffic to replace the old Flesk bridge on the Muckross Road, Killarney; and, if so, what action he proposes to take in the matter.

The replacement of the bridge in question is primarily a matter for the Kerry County Council. Investigations preliminary to the detailed planning of the work are at present being carried out by their consulting engineer. I may mention that I have allocated to the county council a grant of 75% of the cost of the work, subject to a maximum of £45,000.
