Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Expenditure on Public Roads.

57.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the total expenditure, whether financed by the Exchequer, local authorities or the Road Fund, on public roads in the State for each of the last five years.

As the reply is in the form of a tabular statement, I propose, with your permission, a Leas-Cheann Comhairle, to circulate it with the Official Report.

Following is the statement:—

1959

NOTES:

1. The above figures are based on returns furnished by local authorities.

2. The figure for 1956/57 reflects some expenditure under the supplementary allocation made in 1955/56 and advance expenditure under the 1957/58 allocation which was permitted.

3. The figures relate only to cost of actual works and do not include expenditure such as loan repayments, pensions, etc.
