Vol. 180 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Workmen's Compensation Acts: Payment of Medical Expenses.

10.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will introduce proposals to amend the Workmen's Compensation Acts to provide that, where liability is not disputed, local authorities may pay to an injured workman medical expenses not exceeding £5, so that the present need for expensive legal proceedings in such cases may be avoided.

I propose to await the Report of the Commission on Workmen's Compensation before considering amendments of the Workmen's Compensation Acts. The Commission is expected to report within the next twelve months.
