Vol. 180 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Kerry Commonage.

25.

asked the Minister for Lands what progress is being made in the acquisition of a commonage at Kimego East, Cahirciveen, County Kerry, containing 520 acres of which there are eight owners all willing to sell; and if he will expedite the acquisition so as to relieve unemployment in the Iveragh area.

I understand that recent oral negotiations for the purchase of this commonage in the townland of Kimego East, comprising 573 acres, have been successful.

Everything possible will be done to complete the proceedings as quickly as possible but I must mention that the lands are subject to turbary rights and it may take some time to have these rights legally relinquished.
