Mr. Ryan

asked the Taoiseach if he will state in respect of 1959 the total value of imports from and exports to (a) Russia and (b) Communist China.

In 1959 the total value of imports originating in the U.S.S.R. was £358,113 and the total value of exports to that country was £39,085. The total value of imports originating in China (excluding Hong Kong and Formosa) in 1959 was £345,362. There were no exports to China (excluding Hong Kong and Formosa) in 1959.
