Vol. 180 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Jet Aircraft: Transatlantic Air Service.

23.

asked the Minister for Transport and Power when it is contemplated that the inaugural flight of the transatlantic air service with jet aircraft will take place; and if he will give particulars of the services contemplated.

I am informed by Aerlínte that their transatlantic service with Boeing 707 jet aircraft will commence about mid-December 1960. The service contemplated at least for the beginning will be the same as that being operated during the current year with Superconstellation aircraft.

Could the Minister indicate whether the House can anticipate similar high jinks on this occasion to those which took place on a former occasion in the Waldorf Astoria?

The Minister for Health could not answer that one.
