Vol. 180 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kildare Hospital: Admission of Emergency Case.

4.

asked the Minister for Health when he hopes to receive a full report from Kildare County Council concerning the refusal to admit a case of emergency (particulars supplied) to Kildare Hospital on 16th September, 1959; and if he will make a general statement concerning the delay in this case.

The Report referred to by the Deputy was received in my Department on the 12th March and I am having the matter examined. As regards the lapse of time between the request to the local authority for a report and its receipt, the local authority state that they were in communication with quite a number of parties regarding the matter and that the inquiries were not completed until after a discussion with one of the persons concerned on 11th March.

While I have not yet had an opportunity of examining the report, I understand that there is a conflict between the recollection of events by some of the persons concerned and as the Deputy will appreciate it is sometimes difficult in such cases to arrive at finality.

Could the Minister say what date the report was first requested?

On the 30th October.
