asked the Minister for Transport and Power if he will state in regard to Aer Línte (a) the total expenditure (including capital, charter, ancillary and promotion expenditure) incurred by the Company since the inception of its transatlantic service in April, 1958, to the most recent convenient date, (b) the revenue received from (i) fare-paying passengers, (ii) freight and (iii) air mail carried during the period, and (c) the number of (i) west-bound and (ii) eastbound passengers carried during the period.

The service from Ireland to America was inaugurated by Aer Línte on the 28th April, 1958. The company's financial year ends on the 31st March but provisional figures are prepared on a half-yearly basis. A break-down of the figures as set out in the question is not made by the company but, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, I propose to circulate in the Official Report a tabular statement setting out the available figures which most nearly correspond with those specified in the question.
