Vol. 180 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Trade Negotiations with Great Britain.

2.

asked the Taoiseach whether he is yet in a position to make a statement on the progress of the trade talks with Great Britain.

3.

asked the Taoiseach if he is yet in a position to state the outcome of the recent trade negotiations with Britain.

I propose, with your permission, Sir, to take Questions Nos. 2 and 3 together.

The position is still as stated in my reply on this subject to questions addressed to me in this House on 15th instant.

Would the Taoiseach say whether he hopes to be able to make a statement before the House adjourns for the Easter Recess next week?

Yes. I do not want to tie myself to a commitment to do so because, as I pointed out, the previous time this question was mentioned here, the matter is not entirely in my control, but I should think that is likely.

Would the Taoiseach say whether, if a request is transmitted to the Government for an opportunity of debating the new agreement, time will be given for such a debate?

Certainly.

Can the Taoiseach say if the proposed revision of prices of agricultural produce is contingent on the talks being completed?

Is there to be any announcement on those matters before the Budget?
