Vol. 180 No. 9

Written Answers. - Teachers' Salaries Committee.

43.

asked the Minister for Education if he will state in relation to the Commission set up to examine and report on principles which might guide him in determining the relationships between the remuneration payable to trained teachers and permanent whole-time vocational teachers, respectively, (1) how long the Commission have been in session, (2) how many meetings have been held, (3) how often on average the meetings take place, (4) at what stage the discussions are at present, (5) why there is such a delay in coming to decisions, and (6) when the Commission expect to present their report to the Government.

The Teachers' Salaries Committee, which was appointed on 8th December, 1958, has not yet submitted its report. I understand that the report is at present in course of preparation. Pending receipt of the report, I do not think it would be proper for me to furnish the further information requested by the Deputy.
