Vol. 180 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Difficulties of Cork Juries.

25.

asked the Minister for Justice if in view of the continued difficulties being experienced by Cork High Court juries and other juries he will expedite the introduction of legislation calculated to ameliorate the present situation.

I would refer the Deputy to the reply I gave on 19th November last to a question on this subject. Since then, some progress has been made in the preparation of the draft Bill to amend the Juries Acts so as to enable the burden of jury service to be eased in a number of areas including Cork City. The draft Bill will be introduced with the least possible delay.
