Vol. 180 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing Repair Grants.

33.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state in respect of applications for repair grants under Section 12 of the Housing (Amendment) Act, 1954, the number (a) received (b) sanctioned (c) refused and (d) still under consideration; and if he will state the reason for the delay in dealing with them.

Records are not kept in my Department of the numbers of applications received for grants and accordingly the figures asked for by the Deputy at (a), (c) and (d) in his Question are not available. The total number of grants approved under Section 12 of the Housing (Amendment) Act, 1954, up to 31st March, 1960, was 20,381.

I am not aware of any avoidable delay in my Department in dealing with applications for these grants. If the Deputy has any particular cases in mind in which delays have occurred I will be glad to have them investigated on receipt of the names and addresses of the applicants concerned.
