Vol. 181 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Department of Posts and Telegraphs: Suppression of Posts.

40.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs the number of posts suppressed in his Department in each of the financial years 1958-59 and 1959-60 in the following grades: overseer, supervisory posts (Telegraphs), supervisory posts (Telephones), Post Office clerk grade A, Post Office clerk grade B, telephonist, postman (full-time), postman (part-time), sorting assistant, doorkeeper and liftman, male night telephonist, night and Sunday telephone attendant, cleaner (full-time and part-time) and junior postman (formerly boy messenger).

During the years in question posts were suppressed at certain offices and new posts were created at other offices. Figures of the net increases or decreases are the only ones readily available from the Department's records. This information is in the form of a tabular statement, which I propose with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to circulate with the Official Report.
