Under Section 3 (3) of the Medical Practitioners Act, 1927, the Medical Registration Council consists of eleven members. Two are nominated by the Government, one each is nominated by University College, Dublin, University College, Cork, University College, Galway, the University of Dublin, the Apothecaries Hall of Ireland, the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland; and two members, who must be registered medical practitioners, are elected by those registered in the Irish Medical Register and resident in the State.
