Vol. 181 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Acquisition of Deer Park, Mount Merrion.

12.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is yet in a position to give a decision on the application from the Dublin County Council to acquire Deer Park, Mount Merrion, as a public park.

I hope to be in a position to give a decision on the application shortly.

Is the Minister aware of the very serious problem that has arisen in Mount Merrion, due to the presence there of itinerants, in that because of the fact that they are encamped on private ground, the Dublin County Council has no authority to remove them? In view of that position, will the Minister ensure that the decision will be expedited as much as possible?

I shall do that, yes.
