Vol. 181 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Transport of Irish Produce in Britain.

9.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if his attention has been drawn to a report of train delays between Holyhead and Stanley, Liverpool, causing meat to arrive late for the Stanley morning market, and to a further report that the weekend service to Liverpool has been most unsatisfactory for some time past; and, if so, if in order to prevent the reputation for the high quality and standards of Irish agricultural products from being damaged he will make representations to the British authorities to ensure that efficient means of transport are provided in future.

I have seen the report referred to, which stated also that the Society representing the Irish Fresh Meat Exporters had taken up the matter direct with the British transport organisation. If the exporters consider it desirable to seek my assistance I shall of course do anything I usefully can.
