Vol. 181 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dublin Water Charges.

16.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he is aware that the Dublin Corporation were charging domestic water consumers in the extra-municipal district a higher rate than that charged for water supplied by contract; and under what authority this charge was made.

I am not so aware. Water is supplied by Dublin Corporation under contract for a variety of purposes, and is charged for at different rates, and on different bases, according to the purpose or area of supply. It would not therefore be possible to say, except in specific cases, how the rate for domestic water in the extra-municipal districts compares with other charges. The charges for water supplied to domestic consumers in those districts are authorised by the Dublin Corporation Waterworks Act, 1861.
