Vol. 181 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Income Tax: Allowances for Housekeepers.

8.

asked the Minister for Finance if he is aware that the allowances for housekeepers in the income tax code have not changed since 1924; and if in view of the fact that the value of money has decreased considerably since 1924 he will consider increasing them.

The housekeeper allowance was increased from £45 to £100 for 1949/50 and subsequent years. My proposals for the current year were announced in my Budget Statement, and I do not propose to add to them at this stage.
