Vol. 181 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kilmore Quay (Wexford) Harbour.

25.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will give an account of the progress made in connection with the improvement of Kilmore Quay Harbour; and when the harbour will be in a fit condition to cater for the owners of the many fishing boats who desire to use it.

Following a meeting between the fishermen, local representatives and an officer of my Department at Kilmore Quay in October last, Wexford County Council were asked to have a detailed plan and estimate of cost of effective improvements prepared. A plan and estimate have recently been received and are being examined.

Would the Minister say who are the local representatives to whom he refers?

I have not that information readily available before me.

May I tell the Minister that the local representatives from the Wexford district on the Town Council were not invited? All the local representatives were not invited.

I can only give the Deputy the information available to me.

It should not be confined to honoured members of his own Party.

If the Deputy is making an allegation of that kind, I invite him to put down a question on that matter and I shall deal with it then.

I am telling the Minister that no members of the Labour Party were invited.

The Deputy's question did not indicate that the personnel of those concerned in the discussion was being questioned.

The Minister said that the local representatives were invited. That is the reason I questioned it.

Local representatives were invited, according to the information in my file.
