Vol. 181 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Interest on United States Loan.

5.

asked the Minister for Finance the amount of interest paid in each of the years 1957 and 1958 on the United States Loan (a) in dollars and (b) in Irish currency.

Following is the information:—(a) $3,184,711 in 1957 and $3,168,109 in 1958. (b) Nil in both years.

Would it be correct to say that there is a corresponding income to the Treasury on the interest earned on the loans under the American Grant Counterpart Fund which are held by the Central Bank?

The corresponding interest would be higher, yes.

There is no net charge?

Except that it has to be paid.

But there is a corresponding interest coming in?
