Vol. 182 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Abolition of Waiting Period for Unemployment Benefit.

6.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare when it is anticipated that the three-day waiting period will be abolished in connection with unemployment benefit.

I intend to introduce legislation during the present session which will provide for the abolition of the three-day waiting period in the case of persons transferring from unemployment benefit to unemployment assistance. As I have stated previously it is not my intention to provide for the general abolition of the waiting period for unemployment benefit.
