Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Woollen and Worsted Cloths: Clothing Manufacturers' Purchases.

18.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the total purchases (i.e. imports plus purchases from Irish mills) of woollen and worsted cloths by manufacturers of boys' and men's clothing in the year ended 29th February, 1956.

19.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce the total amount of imported woollen and worsted cloths distributed to manufacturers of men's and boys' clothing in the year ended 29th February, 1960.

20.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what was the proportion of woollen and worsted cloths imported by manufacturers of men's and boys' clothing in the year ended 29th February, 1960, to the total purchases (i.e. imports plus purchases from Irish mills) of such firms in the year ended 29th February, 1956.

Imports Plus Purchases from the Irish mills in year ended 29/2/1956

Quota Allocations in year ended 29/2/1960

2,244,258 sq. yards

174,779 sq. yards

In the twelve months ended 29/2/1960 the Woollen and Worsted Quotas allocated to manufacturers of men's and boys' clothing were calculated at the rate of 8% of their imports plus home purchases of these materials in the year ended 29/2/1956.
