Vol. 182 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Commission on Higher Education.

33.

asked the Minister for Education when he will be in a position to announce the names of the commission which he proposes to set up to enquire generally into the position of higher education in the country; and if he will ensure that Limerick is represented on the commission.

I am not yet able to state when I will be in a position to announce the names of the persons to be appointed to membership of the proposed commission and I cannot at this stage give any indication as to what form the membership will take. I have noted what is implied in the Deputy's question and the representations in the matter which have previously been made to me.

When will he be in a position to announce the names?

The Minister is not yet in a position to state when.

Any idea when he will be in such a position?

I do not know. I am not instructed in this brief.
